FIELD ENGINEER

Field engineers are technicians who work in the field, as their name would suggest. These engineers are not office based, and often spend a good amount of time on the road and visiting on-site projects. When clients have questions, problems, or need something repaired or fixed, field engineers are generally the ones to go address these problems. This job isn’t a typical 9-5 desk job, as some client issues are urgent and don’t happen on those schedules. Field Engineers can also be known as field technicians and field service technicians.

As a prospective Field Engineer, you will work closely with clients, and possibly a team of field engineers, in order to fix or improve systems according to client preferences. Some responsibilities of Field Engineers include conducting research to best resolve a client’s problem, develop appropriate solutions, and maintaining the infrastructure of a site. Safety testing and helping to develop procedures that predict issues before they happen. If you are a technically skilled technician who does not want to be stuck behind a desk, is looking to work with systems hands-on, and have strong communication and soft skills, then a Field Engineer position may be for you.
