Telecommunications Architect

We’re looking for a Telecommunications Architect to help one of our clients in the process of overhauling their telephony infrastructure. You will be responsible for leading and facilitating the strategic planning, designing, engineering, forecasting, implementation and identification of requirements for Telecom systems and solutions. We need someone who’s able to securely and efficiently meet business requirements and implement all changes with cost in mind.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides Tier 3 issue diagnosis, troubleshooting and resolution for problems requiring escalation
  • Ensures overall integrity of the Telecom architectures and solutions
  • Establish capacity and availability management processes
  • Define physical cabling infrastructure installation and documentation standards
  • Researches and keeps abreast of new technologies, services and capabilities in the Telecom industry and advises management of trends and directions
  • Leads and facilitates the strategic planning, analysis, engineering and design of complex Telecom systems and solutions required to meet business requirements
  • Architects, designs, configures and tests evolving Telecom infrastructure and services
  • Collaborates with IT infrastructure teams to define standards to ensure minimum requirements are met prior to the deployment of telecommunication systems and services
  • Leads and facilitates the evaluation and selection of technology, equipment, systems and services
  • Oversees and facilitates the installation and implementation of equipment and system upgrades, including ShoreTel, Avaya and Tadiran
  • Conducts analysis, and defines, develops and implements best practices
  • Leads development of equipment and system configuration standards
  • Develops, updates, and maintains network plans, documentation and diagrams
  • Effectively leads mid-size to large infrastructure projects by using PMO best practices
  • Ensure post project support requirements are effectively transitioned
  • Acts as Telecom Subject Matter Expert providing support for projects
  • Defines optimization strategies to achieve maximum performance and availability
  • Defines Telecom Management strategies for monitoring, tracking and trending key indicators as to avoid and resolve performance issues and maintain adequate service capacities
  • Advocates, embrace’s and cultivates a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ensure change management practices and guidelines are followed
  • Execute and lead problem management and root cause analysis for critical incidents and incident management processes and reviews
  • Collaborate with peers, teams, managers, departments and divisions
  • Review, track and communicate period, quarterly and annual expense trends and impacts with team and manager
  • Leads and facilitates vendor scorecard reviews
  • Establishes and maintains and negotiates technology relationships and acts as technical liaison with vendors and renews contracts and maintenance agreements with vendors
  • Leads and facilitates development, establishment and review of secure practices and procedures.
  • Acts as a mentor to peers with less experience

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
  • 5 or more years’ experience in IT Networking and Telecommunications services and technologies
  • Proven experience leading teams in converting standard PBX solutions to VoIP solutions
  • Highly skilled in applications and configuration plans for integrated telephony platforms
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially when translating and communicating complicated information
  • Exhibit customer service and care
  • Ability to work independently and be a team player
  • Execute objectives and expected outcomes
  • Project Management experience with medium to large sized projects
  • Strong technical aptitude, systematic problem solving, business acumen and strategic thinking ability.
