Senior SAS Systems Administrator

 

We’re looking for a Senior SAS Systems Administrator to help lead the creation of standards for development, administration and support policies for our clients SAS-based environments. The candidate will work closely with peers to take advantage of existing protocols and processes and work to educating staff on them. The candidate will also work closely with infrastructure staff to ensure the necessary hardware and software requirements for SAS environments are being met and to automate installs, updates and support processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, Computer Science or a related discipline preferred
  • 8+ years of SAS Administration experience with a networked interactive environment in user support, customer support, or training required
  • Experience working with SAS 9.3, SAS 9.4, Grid Manager, RACE and LAZR
  • Experience with one or more client/server operating systems
  • Experience with performance tuning/capacity planning of SAS products
  • Understanding of security, performance, server design, Microsoft Windows integration, SAS products, and storage
  • Knowledge of change management procedures and version control
  • Ability to comprehend the details of complex, multi-tier, system and application software
  • Ability to effectively communicate designs and decisions to peers, customers and management
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrate excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills

Preferenced Qualifications:

  • Experience implementing and using SAS Enterprise software including automation of installation and upgrades
  • Experience with SAS Visual Analytics (VA)
  • Experience programming in SAS DataStep and Macro
  • Experience using SAS application tools (e.g., 9.3 suite, reporting, etc.)
  • Experience with Java development and/or Unix scripting in Perl or Shell
  • Expertise in large data warehouse systems

Responsibilities:

  • Lead in establishing SAS-based environments for a broad suite of SAS tools
  • SAS 9.3, 9.4 and VAS Administration
  • Supports SAS on Windows and Linux-based environments
  • Educate staff in best practices related to supporting SAS
  • Uses SAS tools to improve internal operational efficiencies
  • Improve the visibility of information through SAS-based reporting and data presentation
  • Automates data manipulation processes
  • Prepares and conducts system and program tests requiring the interfacing of hardware and software of moderate complexity
  • Serves as contact for user-reported problems
  • Compiles reports on system performance and/or usage
  • Develops training material and/or conducts demonstrations
  • Uses Management Console to add users, register tables, and other basic administrative functions
  • Executes complex queries of large SQL/MySQL table(s) efficiently utilizing Base SAS, SAS/ACCESS to SQL/MySQL, Enterprise Guide, DataFlux, and/or DI Studio
  • Generate written documentation of all work performed
