GIT or SVN Specialist, Contract

We are looking for a specialist in SVN or GIT for a contract project at one of our clients. This senior engineer will be responsible converting SVN based source to GIT based source code.  This engineer will have to restructure SVN based code to be built with a GIT repository. The majority of the code is written in C and Python.

This position requires a BS in computer engineering (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) and with a minimum of 2 years using make/gcc/gas/ld.   This position requires a commitment to sound software engineering practices, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work successfully in a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Restructuring a large source code repository from a tightly cross-integrated components into separate clearly-isolated components with isolated build environments.
  • Converting projects to use a standardized build infrastructure (ie autoconf). - NOTE: We will likely not be using any standardized build infrastructure produced by a tool beyond the predefined targets that 'make -p -f /dev/null' define if at all possible.
  • 3) Packaging/release RPMs - NOTE: Experience releasing and supporting software in a debian package or RPM environment is really helpful.
